Spiritual Practices

Workbook, page 29: there is a chart with this heading – Spiritual Practices Change as We Grow. Notice a couple issues: 1) Practice makes perfect. You have to do them on a regular basis to make them practices. 2) Growth is evidence that you are practicing.

Are you growing? Are you being transformed?

Romans 12:1–2 (NIV84)

Living Sacrifices

12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

This chart is very helpful to me. I read the Bible throughout the day everyday, but the Holy Spirit just recently revealed to me that I was just stuffing my head with knowledge and I need to learn to read scripture in a more systematic and disciplined way. Interesting that Reading for Knowledge and Understanding is on the early side of growth. I wasn’t familiar with Lectionary Divina, but the steps are very helpful to me.
